Director of Communications Karna Hughes met with 11 top-tier media outlets during deskside meetings in New York accompanied by staff from Visit Santa Barbara’s PR agency of record, Lou Hammond Group. The editors and freelancers represented major lifestyle, food and travel outlets, including Zagat, Food Network Magazine, Marie Claire, Condé Nast Traveler, Wall Street Journal Magazine, Brides and Worth Magazine. Orange County Meeting Planners Get a Taste of Santa Barbara

Regional Sales Representative Suzy Kay, along with Santa Barbara South Coast partners, including The Fess Parker: A Doubletree by Hilton Resort, Belmond El Encanto and 360 Destination Group, hosted a relationship-building, hands-on cooking event at health-food restaurant True Food Kitchen in Newport Beach. The event attracted over 19 meeting planners from Fortune 500 companies considering Santa Barbara for upcoming programs. Beyond fostering relationships with Orange County planners, the event helped leverage Santa Barbara’s place in the market and differentiate the destination from competitors. Santa Barbara was highlighted further with local wine and hotel giveaways.

International FAMs Help Draw Business to the South Coast

International markets currently undergoing exponential growth and showing strong future visitor potential continue to be targeted for developing long-term, repeat business to Santa Barbara. In March, VSB welcomed international travel trade FAMS from China and the Middle East. In partnership with Visit California, 10 Chinese operators from Chengdou, China, were educated on Santa Barbara offerings and experiences. VSB and tourism partners also showcased The American Riviera® to operators from the Middle East who book luxury hotel products and unique experiences for affluent travelers.
