Come down to the Twenty-Four Blackbirds chocolate factory to get an in depth and behind the scenes tour of how chocolate is made, with tastings along the way!
Tours start in the retail boutique with a quick overview of the company, then head behind the curtain into the test kitchen where new products come to life. From there, peek into the microbiology and flavor chemistry laboratory, where flavors are refined and extracted, and where research is conducted on cacao fermentation.
Next participants will go into the jungle — the jungle at Twenty-Four Blackbirds, that is — a climate-controlled cacao and vanilla nursery, where you can see cacao trees and vanilla orchids growing. Here you will get an in depth talk on how cacao is grown, and what steps go into making a delicious cocoa bean.
From here you will see the chocolate-making process, from roasting raw beans, to making finished chocolate bars and confections. Tours finish in the retail boutique with a tasting of a selection of single origin bars.
Tours are limited to 8 people, and are safe for children over the age of 10.
