A full night of music, dance, and delicious food at one of Santa Barbara’s most beloved spots, SOhO.
El Cachivache Tango Orkestra will perform. This well-loved band is making their second trip to Santa Barbara. They’ve revolutionized the sound of tango with their unmistakable “punk” edge. Constantly touring the world, they are one of the most sought-after bands globally.
Lauren Woods will teach a pre-milonga class for anyone who wants to experience the feel of tango. Lauren is an artist with many facets. She has danced many styles, including hip-hop, she is an opera singer, and even performs at a Bourlesque show. Lauren comes to us from Los Angele, where she has built an exciting and thriving dance scene in her Atomic ballroom.
Katherine will join Lauren for a dance exhibition. These two often dance together and are a treat to watch.
There will also be time for dancing to DJ Sara Whipple’s music. Sara is a local tanguera who is well known all over the USA and Buenos Aires where she travels and dances. Her “Taste of Tango Milonga” at Karyla Vineyard in Santa Ynez successfully explores the pairing of tango and wines.
About the venue: Nestled in the upstairs area of downtown’s Victoria Court lies SOhO, a family-owned and operated music venue and restaurant. SOhO has been providing the Santa Barbara community with live music seven nights a week for 24 years and counting.
