Since it’s beginning, El Encanto has been known as an alluring oasis for Hollywood’s luminaries, artists, writers, and most recently, creative technologists looking to retreat to Santa Barbara. These picturesque scenes inspired the small but perfectly formed Plein Air art movement, whose artists traveled to Santa Barbara during the 1920s to capture the mountain and oceanic vistas on their canvases, establishing El Encanto’s enduring place in creativity.
Join local artist and architect Sandra Vlock of Studio Vlock for a conversation and group experience on sketching as a creative visual journal. The artist will speak to capturing the moment in the mind’s eye and translate it to the page. These marks on the paper are the through-thread of discovery- a way to take it all in. Studio Vlock’s illuminated and fire sculptures are placed throughout the hotel property as a place for guests to connect with the environment.
Enjoy the evening with light refreshments and canapes.
