Nature restores us and promotes a sense of wellbeing. This year, Lotusland launches a series of programs designed to have you engage with nature and experience the Garden with a fresh perspective.
Skilled professionals will lead a series of Wellbeing Wednesdays, special sessions for regular doses of nature’s healing, resilience, and a sense of wholeness. Each class consists of a 45-minute guided activity followed by a 45-minute walk in the Garden.
This month’s Wellbeing Wednesday will feature Mindful Meditation with Kind Mind. Kind Mind SB works with communities to implement nature-based mindfulness and compassion practices that enhance learning, emotion regulation, relationships, and wellbeing for youth and adults. Vivian Valentin, PhD, and Harrison Heyl, MA, co-founded Kind Mind SB in 2019. They develop mindfulness lessons through nature, music, art, games and neuroscience. Vivian is the executive director and a former cognitive neuroscientist, studying learning, awareness and mindfulness. She has been practicing yoga and mindfulness since 1994, is certified to teach both, and leads a project on climate resilience for youth. Harrison is the program manager and an associate Marriage & Family Therapist. He has been meditating daily since 1996, teaching mindfulness to adults and youth since 2008, and has co-founded three other organizations for mindfulness education.
