2017 Travel Outlook – Reminder to RSVP

As a reminder, Visit Santa Barbara’s annual travel forecasting event will be held at the Cabrillo Arts Pavilion on Fri., Jan. 20 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Keynote speaker Peter Yesawich, Ph.D., principal of industry insights at MMGY Global, Inc., will present on top insights and trends impacting the leisure travel industry. Other topics include 2017 lodging forecasts as well as trends for the burgeoning Chinese visitor market. VSB President/CEO Kathy Janega-Dykes will provide the industry with an update on the latest Santa Barbara South Coast Visitor Profile Study and highlights from the 2016 Cruise Ship Economic Impact Study. Get Crafty with the “2017 Official Drink of Santa Barbara” Contest

Visit Santa Barbara will host the “2017 Official Drink of Santa Barbara” Cocktail Contest from 6 to 8 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 26 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara (MCASB). Local restaurants, bars, lounges, tasting rooms and breweries are invited to develop a new, unique signature mixed drink that celebrates the distinctive attributes of The American Riviera. Submissions will be accepted from Jan. 3 to 13 here. Then from Jan. 14 to 19, the public can view the entries posted, visit participating establishments to purchase drink submissions, and vote for their favorite entries. The top five finalists will participate in the live competition on Jan. 26, where an esteemed panel of judges will decide upon the winning cocktail. International Luxury Travel Market

VSB was pleased to exhibit under the Visit California (VCA) umbrella at the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) tradeshow held in Cannes, France, Dec. 2 to 7, 2016. President/CEO Kathy Janega-Dykes and Director of Travel Trade Jen Trupiano were accompanied by Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara’s General Manager Karen Earp. The tradeshow drew over 2,000 select ultra-luxury travel trade buyers and suppliers from around the globe. This was the first time that VCA had a presence at this tradeshow and was front and center by hosting the opening reception with a branded “California: The Golden State of Luxury” campaign. VSB destination representatives met with 52 luxury buyers and conducted 39 pre-scheduled appointments.
