 New Partnership with Lou Hammond Group

lou-hammond-group-loresVisit Santa Barbara recently hired New York-based Lou Hammond Group (LHG) as its first public relations agency of record. In partnership with VSB’s Communications Department, Lou Hammond Group will work to amplify awareness of the Santa Barbara South Coast by securing destination-specific features in major national U.S. outlets and generating media coverage in targeted markets. LHG has also been tasked with positioning Santa Barbara as a must-see destination and creating compelling and strategic PR campaigns to drive occupancy in Santa Barbara during shoulder seasons and mid-week. To onboard the new team, VSB hosted a three-day familiarization trip in October, with an itinerary that covered multiple top attractions and culinary experiences along the Santa Barbara South Coast.

Cross-Promotion with Film20th Century Women”

20th-century-women-posterWriter-director and Santa Barbara native Mike Mills came back to his hometown for inspiration to make his latest film, “20th Century Women,” starring Annette Bening, Elle Fanning and Greta Gerwig. The movie, a semi-autobiographical tale of growing up in Santa Barbara in the 1970s, was shot in part at Montecito and Santa Barbara locations and had its world premiere as the centerpiece film of the recent New York Film Festival. VSB will be executing a cross-promotional partnership with the film. With a 94 percent rating currently on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has already started to generate buzz around a possible Oscar nomination for Annette Bening. The film opens in movie theaters in New York and Los Angeles on December 25 and will roll out to wider markets in January.

Nominations for 2017 James Beard Awards

Visit Santa Barbara calls on the hospitality industry to help drive awareness of the South Coast’s culinary scene by submitting suggested nominees for the 2017 James Beard Awards. You may submit suggestions for outstanding South Coast chefs and restaurants in multiple categories, ranging from “Best New Restaurant” to “Rising Star Chef of the Year.” The James Beard Foundation is now accepting entries.
