Experience Riceboy Sleeps, a tender and deeply personal film by Anthony Shim that follows a Korean single mother and her son navigating life in 1990s Canada. Anchored by delicate performances, the story explores family bonds, cultural identity, and the journey back to their roots.

Filmmaker Anthony Shim will join moderator Miguel Penabella (Carsey-Wolf Center, UCSB) for a post-screening discussion. This event is presented in conjunction with the Carsey-Wolf Center and UCSB Reads program, featuring the 2026 selection Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner.
