This festival is the longest-running and most consistently held public Earth Day celebration in the U.S. and is thought to be one of the largest on the West Coast. Madonnari, or street painters, transform the Mission plaza using pastels on pavement to create 150 vibrant and colorful, large scale images. Old Mission Santa Barbara is proud to be the first to bring this romantic festival to the western hemisphere from its sister festival in Grazie di Curtatone, Italy.
