Take wine knowledge to an advanced, professional level with the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, an internationally recognized certification course offered at The Factory in Santa Barbara. Led by Monica Marin, DipWSET, the multi-session program provides an in-depth exploration of the wines of the world through classroom instruction, guided tastings and independent study.
Participants will taste more than 65 wines while developing advanced knowledge of grape growing, winemaking, regional styles and the factors that influence wine quality and price. The course also builds professional tasting skills using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting. Successful completion includes both theory and blind tasting examinations and prepares students who wish to progress to the WSET Level 4 Diploma.
Course schedule is as follows:
- November 1: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
- November 2: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
- November 15: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
- November 22: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
- December 9: Theory Review Webinar, 6–8:30 p.m.
- December 12: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
- December 13: Exam, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
The course includes five days of in-person instruction, a theory review webinar, tastings of more than 65 wines, study materials and exam fees. WSET Level 2 or equivalent intermediate wine knowledge is recommended before enrolling. Additional independent study outside of class is expected.
