Explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping both modern computing and the understanding of human cognition during the fourth installment of UCSB Library’s AI in Action: Conversations with UCSB Researchers speaker series.
Miguel Eckstein, professor of Psychological & Brain Sciences, will present “Why We Look Where We Look: How AI Answered an Age-Old Human Mystery,” exploring how researchers used an AI agent modeled with human visual traits to investigate why people instinctively direct their gaze in particular ways.
Arpit Gupta, associate professor of Computer Science, will present “Making the ‘Net’ Work in the Agentic Era,” examining how his team uses AI to accelerate networking research, inform broadband policy and work toward networks capable of operating autonomously.
The short presentations will be followed by a 30-minute moderated discussion exploring broader trends, challenges and ethical considerations surrounding AI.
