Campus Lagoon Tour & Exhibition Tour

Aug. 28, 2026

10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Explore the intersection of art and ecology during this special program hosted by the Art, Design & Architecture Museum at UC Santa Barbara. The morning begins with a guided walking tour of the Campus Lagoon restoration area led by Katja Seltmann, Katherine Esau Director of the Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration, highlighting ongoing efforts to restore and protect this unique natural landscape.

Following the outdoor tour, guests will enjoy a curator-led walkthrough of the exhibition Jackie Amézquita: Gemidos de la Tierra with Ana Briz, Assistant Director and Curator of Exhibitions at the AD&A Museum. The exhibition showcases new work inspired by Amézquita’s 2026 Artist in Residence of Ecological Practice, during which she conducted research on native ecosystems, pollination, and soil restoration at UC Santa Barbara and the Santa Cruz Island Reserve.

Presented in partnership with the Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration, this program offers a unique opportunity to experience how environmental research and contemporary art come together. The exhibition remains on view through November 29. Please wear comfortable clothing, including closed-toe shoes, and be prepared for the outdoor portion of the program.
