Going Batty at the Nature Center

July 9 - Sept. 5, 2026

8 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Recurring weekly on Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Discover one of Cachuma Lake’s most fascinating nighttime residents during Going Batty, a seasonal series of docent-led talks and live bat observations at the Neal Taylor Nature Center. As dusk falls, watch hundreds of native California Myotis bats emerge from the Nature Center’s bat boxes while learning about their behavior, migration, and important role in the local ecosystem.

Offered weekly during the warmer months, this family-friendly program provides a unique opportunity to observe these remarkable creatures in their natural habitat. Admission is by donation; however, the standard Cachuma Lake Recreation Area vehicle entrance fee applies. Please note that program dates and times are subject to change based on weather and bat activity.
