Spotlight Santa Barbara presents Free Speech Under Fire: Greg Lukianoff on the New Age of Censorship, an evening examining free speech, censorship and the changing boundaries of public discourse.
Lukianoff is a New York Times best-selling author, attorney and CEO of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE). He is co-author of The Coddling of the American Mind with Jonathan Haidt, The Canceling of the American Mind with Rikki Schlott and, most recently, The War on Words with Nadine Strossen.
During the program, Lukianoff will explore topics including call-out culture and “mob censorship,” safetyism and parenting, the boundaries of legally protected speech, recent challenges involving law firms and the Trump administration, and broader questions surrounding freedom of expression in contemporary society.
