UCSB Library presents Information Disorder and Global Politics: How Technology is Reshaping International Relations, featuring Julia C. Morse as part of the Pacific Views: Library Speaker Series.
The global information environment is undergoing a profound transformation. News now comes as much from citizen reporting and social media feeds as from traditional newspapers and journalists, while algorithms can amplify false or misleading information and sensational content. In this talk, Morse will explore how these changes are reshaping global politics and international relations.
Drawing on her research into “information disorder,” Morse will examine how today’s fragmented media landscape influences the way people access and evaluate political information, creates new challenges for international cooperation, and affects conflict and foreign influence around the world.
Julia C. Morse is an associate professor of political science at UC Santa Barbara whose research focuses on international organizations, global governance and the role of information in international politics.
The lecture will take place in the Pacific View Room on the eighth floor of UCSB Library. Advance registration is encouraged.
