Slow Art Walkthrough & Picnic Lunch

June 10, 2026

9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

General: $35
Members: $30

Step into a quieter way of experiencing art with a guided slow art walkthrough designed to move beyond the typical glance and into deeper, more intentional observation. This meditative experience invites guests to slow down, engage with curiosity, and explore the connection between art and nature at their own pace.

Over the course of 90 minutes, participants are encouraged to spend 5 to 15 minutes with individual works, allowing space for reflection and personal interpretation. The museum will be closed to the public during the walkthrough, creating a calm, uninterrupted environment to explore current exhibitions, including When the Earth Whispers Back: Nature’s Hope and Ocean Forests: Our Coastal Communities. While the experience is largely self-guided and held in comfortable silence, it begins with a brief staff introduction and includes an optional mindfulness guide to support deeper engagement.

Following the walkthrough, the experience continues with a picnic lunch at Hans Christian Andersen Park, offering time to relax and reflect in a natural setting. Lunch is provided by Panino and can be customized in advance.

The experience includes:

  • 9:00–10:30 a.m. slow art walkthrough
  • 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. picnic lunch at Hans Christian Andersen Park

All supplies are included. Advance registration is required, and attendance is limited to 10 guests. This experience is best suited for ages 16 and older. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for a relaxed, meditation-style setting.
