Spend Saturday evening at The Granada Theatre as State Street Ballet and the Santa Barbara Symphony come together for a compelling season-closing triple bill featuring ballet and live orchestral music.
The program opens with the Santa Barbara Symphony performing Brahms’ Symphony No. 3, followed by a world premiere from choreographers Nilas Martins and Megan Philipp set to Samuel Barber’s String Quartet No. 1 in B Minor. The evening concludes with George Balanchine’s Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, a theatrical ballet of rivalry and desire set to Richard Rodgers’ jazzy score.
Santa Barbara Symphony Music & Artistic Director Nir Kabaretti leads the orchestra.
A Sunday afternoon performance will also be offered May 23 at 3 p.m.
