One year after opening its doors in downtown Santa Barbara, Seimandi & Leprieur marks its first anniversary with YEAR ONE, a collective exhibition celebrating the vision that has shaped the gallery since July 2025: presenting outstanding contemporary art while fostering dialogue between local and international artistic communities.
The exhibition opens with Conjuring Rain Nos. 5 and 6 by Mary Heebner. Recently returned from the residence of the United States Ambassador in Helsinki, Finland, where they were displayed for three years, these two works symbolize the dialogue between local and international perspectives that has been at the heart of the gallery’s program since its inception.
Another major figure of the Santa Barbara art scene, George Legrady, distinguished professor in the interdisciplinary arts-engineering Media Arts & Technology program at UCSB, is featured with Smoke & Fire, a mesmerizing lenticular work that reflects his pioneering contributions to digital and media art.
Bringing together new works alongside several defining pieces presented during the gallery’s inaugural year, YEAR ONE is both a celebration and a milestone, a moment to reflect on what has been built, the artists who have shaped the program, and the connections forged along the way.
As Seimandi & Leprieur enters its second year, YEAR ONE reaffirms the gallery’s commitment to discovering and presenting some of the most compelling voices in contemporary art today, from Santa Barbara to the wider world.
