Pet Friendly

Santa Barbara is as friendly for Fido as it is for you. Don’t hesitate to let your four-legged friends join you on your visit to SB; there’s plenty for them to do here, too. In addition to wide-open spaces, other pet-friendly amenities include pet services such as day spas and bakeries, hotel pet-pampering packages, overnight and boarding care, and grooming salons.

Friendly pets of all sizes are allowed in downtown Santa Barbara on-leash. Lots of inviting open-air patios and dining options make it a great place to grab a bite while your canine companion soaks up some sun. Follow that with a stroll in Chase Palm Park and Shoreline Park (leash required). Or take a nice long walk along Cabrillo Boulevard before darting into the Funk Zone for a glass of wine at a local tasting room, many of which welcome furry friends.

Need some time off the leash? Here are some fun places to frolic with other pets and their people. Arroyo Burro Beach — also called Hendry’s Beach — is the only beach in Santa Barbara that allows dogs off-leash in select locations. Let your pooch play in the sand and chase some waves at this Santa Barbara classic. The Douglas Family Preserve is a large, expansive area named for actor Kirk Douglas. Lots of space to play is met with spectacular views. For additional information on local park pet regulations, please click here.
