South Coast “Shines” as Host Region for Visit California Outlook Forum

The Santa Barbara South Coast was in the spotlight as the destination host for Visit California’s Outlook Forum, an annual multi-day conference on the tourism landscape, which took place at Bacara Resort & Spa at the end of February. More than 500 industry leaders, DMOs and hospitality professionals from throughout the state, as well as Visit California’s representatives from around the world, converged on the South Coast, stayed at area hotels and experienced local restaurants and attractions. Esteemed speakers at the conference included Alex Cruz, CEO of British Airways; Nilou Motamed, editor-in-chief of Food & Wine magazine; and world-renowned chef Tyler Florence, among others.

Before the conference started, Visit Santa Barbara hosted a lively Old Spanish Days Fiesta-style private evening for Visit California’s international offices with flamenco dancers and live music at El Paseo Restaurant. During the conference, President/CEO Kathy Janega-Dykes moderated a panel on social media trends, and Visit Santa Barbara staff served as destination ambassadors for guests at a welcome desk. Coinciding with the conference, VSB also co-hosted a mixer with the Central Coast Tourism Council for regional tourism and hospitality professionals.

“See SB Again” Cruise Ship Promotion

Visit Santa Barbara will launch a “See SB Again” promotion offering exclusive discounts and offers to cruise ship passengers arriving between March and May. VSB’s recent study conducted by Destination Analysts revealed that nearly half of Santa Barbara’s cruise ship visitors indicated an interest in returning to the destination. Equipped with this information, the “SeeSB Again” promotion was created to add incentive for visitors to plan their return. Promotional collateral will be distributed at cruise ship welcome and departure points that will drive traffic to a dedicated landing page where each participating offer will be listed.
