FOURTH OF JULY 2018 

The Santa Barbara Fourth of July Celebration returns to the Santa Barbara waterfront with a day of beachfront festivities. From 11 a. m. to 9 p.m. enjoy Independence Day activities along West Beach, including food, a music variety show, face painting, local vendors, live music by Tequila Mockingbird, and fun for all ages. End the day with a 9 p.m. fireworks show and music at West Beach. 

To avoid the hassle of finding parking, consider leaving your car and riding a bike. Bike racks will be provided and available for use during the event, or use the Downtown and Waterfront shuttles to arrive in style. Otherwise, Waterfront parking lots will be open, but note that Stearns Wharf will be closed to vehicular traffic from 3 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  Learn More

LOTUSFEST 2018

Step into the fantastical world of Ganna Walska Lotusland, where your imagination can soar and daydreams become reality. On Sunday July 8, Lotusland celebrates the spectacular flower that gives them their namesake, the lotus. To honor this special flower, Lotusfest 2018 will give visitors a unique opportunity to spend an afternoon exploring the exquisite gardens, while sampling over 20 of the area’s finest wine and beer, from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. 

In addition to sipping on some of Santa Barbara’s finest, spend your time wandering through  37-acres of stunning gardens and discover a botanical nirvana, home to more than 3,000 plants from all over the world. CALIFORNIA WINE FESTIVAL

Indulge in a getaway of laid-back luxury with the 15th Annual California Wine Festival, July 19 to 21. For three full days, there will be no shortage of fun (or wine) in The American Riviera ®. Join the festivities as locals and visitors alike flock to this festival favorite, offering three unique experiences. Starting with two intimate evening tastings on Thursday and Friday, sample local cuisine and taste ridiculously good wine in two historic Santa Barbara locations, to kick off the weekend.  

At the weekend’s pinnacle event, Beachside Wine Festival, over 2,500 wine-happy guests will sip and savor nearly 300 wines and dozens of gourmet food samplings at Santa Barbara’s palm-lined park, East Beach. For those who don’t want to pick and choose which event to attend, enter the code “15YEARS” to receive 10 percent discount on any ticket or pass. Tickets include wine and food samples as well as a commemorative wine glass to take home.

30TH ANNUAL SANTA BARBARA FRENCH FESTIVAL

Oh la, la! Get ready to do the cancan! For two days, July 14 and 15, Santa Barbara will fête all things French with free festivities in Oak Park. The popular festival celebrates French culture offering French food (including delicious crepes), wine, art, photography and French conversation. Entertainment includes live music and dance performances on three stages, including gypsy jazz, tango, and the crowd-pleasing Femmes Fatales Drag Revue. The popular Canine Cavalcade costume contest for dogs, finishes the festival — the perfect place to snap Instagram-worthy pix of poodles sporting jaunty berets. Learn More

MOVIES IN THE SUNKEN GARDENS

 Add a little architecture to your vacation itinerary. Santa Barbara’s character and charm is unmistakable and unlike any other California destination. Red tile roofs and stucco walls are just the start. Add in colorful tile workings and walls covered in blooming bougainvillea, and it’s hard not be mesmerized by Santa Barbara’s beauty. 

While admiring the architecture of the Santa Barbara County Courthouse, plan to stay for an evening of animation. Starting July 6th, UCSB Arts and Lectures will be hosting a series of movies in the Courthouse Sunken Gardens titled, ANIMATION SHOW OF SHOWS. Each Friday, bring the family and set up a blanket to watch a movie under the stars and in the heart of Downtown Santa Barbara.
